HARRISBURG (July 9) – State Treasurer Robin L. Wiessmann announced today that she would donate her salary for Monday, July 9, 2007, a day on which state employees are furloughed, to charity.
“The budget negotiations and the resulting furlough have taken a great toll on our state employees,” Wiessmann said. “On a day when so many Commonwealth employees are without pay through no fault of their own, I want to acknowledge both their sacrifice and their service by donating the salary I receive to charity.”
“I am hopeful that Governor Rendell and the leaders in the General Assembly can finalize a budget quickly, so that all state employees can continue their excellent work on behalf of Pennsylvania’s taxpayers,” Wiessmann said.
