The Pennsylvania Senate, by a unanimous vote, confirmed Robin L. Wiessmann, a veteran of public finance and investment banking for decades, to serve as State Treasurer on April 30, 2007. As chief executive of the Pennsylvania Treasury Department, which currently has an annual budget of nearly $57 million and a staff of approximately 530 employees, Treasurer Wiessmann serves as statutory custodian of the funds of virtually all state agencies, which total nearly $105 billion.

Treasurer Wiessmann brings extensive experience in public finance and investment banking to her role as State Treasurer. As a pioneer for women in her field, she was from 1990 through 1999 a founding principal and president of Artemis Capital Group, the leading women-owned investment banking firm in the United States. In 1999, the National Women Executives in State Government Association awarded her the “Breaking the Glass Ceiling Award.” The Women’s City Club of New York lauded Treasurer Wiessmann’s efforts to advance the status of women in business by awarding her the Civic Spirit Award in 1996.
Prior to her confirmation, Treasurer Wiessmann was affiliated with Merrill Lynch as a director, from February 2006 to April 2007. Treasurer Wiessmann served the City of Philadelphia as the Deputy Director of Finance from 1980 to 1984, before spending the next six years at Goldman Sachs as a Vice President. Treasurer Wiessmann has served as a financial advisor and investment banker for numerous state treasurers as well as the comptrollers of New York State and New York City.

Treasurer Wiessmann was a board member and chair of the Investment Committee for the International City Managers Retirement Corporation (ICMA), then an $18 billion public sector pension fund. Treasurer Wiessmann has served on the Vantagepoint Funds Board since its inception in 1998.
Treasurer Wiessmann graduated cum laude from Lafayette College and received her law degree from Rutgers University. She and her husband live in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, with their two children.
